The 10-point deduction for Everton has been lessened to six after the appeal verdict.

On November 17, Everton faced sanctions for breaching the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). After a three-day appeal hearing that concluded in early February, their 10-point deduction was reduced to six. This development moves the club up to 15th place with 25 points, five points clear of the relegation zone.

The independent commission found Everton guilty of exceeding permitted losses by £19.5 million up to the 2021-22 season. The club's appeal argued against the severity of the initial penalty, citing various benchmarks including comparisons to regulations of the English Football League (EFL) and the Premier League's own rules regarding insolvency.

In response to the reduced deduction, Everton issued a statement expressing satisfaction with the outcome. They highlighted the appeal board's acknowledgment of their arguments and emphasized the importance of overturning the finding that the club had failed to act in good faith. Everton sees this decision as a vindication of their decision to pursue the appeal.
