Chelsea vs Newcastle

Premier League

In just their third Premier League match at Stamford Bridge this year, Chelsea are set to face the disgruntled home crowd on Monday evening as Newcastle United come calling in West London.

Last weekend saw Chelsea salvage a draw against Brentford, while Newcastle secured a convincing victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, Mauricio Pochettino and co-owner Todd Boehly faced criticism from fans during the match at the Gtech Community Stadium, with profanity-laden chants directed at them as Chelsea managed to snatch a point.

Despite taking a 2-1 lead against Brentford, Chelsea conceded a late goal, leaving Pochettino acknowledging the lack of support from the fans after yet another disappointing result. This leaves Chelsea with just one win in their last five Premier League games, maintaining their position at 11th in the table.

On the other hand, Newcastle's recent form has been more positive, with a notable 3-0 win over Wolves. They now aim to secure their third consecutive victory across all competitions. However, their defensive record on the road has been shaky, conceding goals frequently away from home.

Chelsea will be missing defensive starters Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill due to injuries, prompting a likely shift to a back four formation. Meanwhile, Newcastle's defensive options are also limited due to injuries and suspensions, with Livramento expected to start after his recent goal-scoring performance.

Here are the possible starting lineups for both teams:

Chelsea:

Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Sterling, Palmer, Mudryk; Jackson

Newcastle United:

Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Botman, Burn; Willock, Guimaraes, Longstaff; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
