Chelsea sign Axel Disasi in £38.6m deal

Axel Disasi has made a significant move to Chelsea, signing a lucrative six-year contract with the club. The Blues’ co-sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, praised the French international center-back for his exceptional performances in France and on the international stage, which led to his well-deserved recognition. The transfer fee for Disasi from Monaco was reported to be £38.6 million.

The arrival of Disasi fills a crucial position in Chelsea’s squad, particularly following the unfortunate ACL injury suffered by Wesley Fofana. Manager Mauricio Pochettino had expressed the need for a new center-back, and the acquisition of Disasi will strengthen their defensive options.

Disasi’s former club, Monaco, secured a replacement for him with the signing of Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu. While Pochettino remains hopeful about Fofana’s return from injury, he can now choose from a pool of center-backs, including Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, and the newly-acquired Disasi.

Having previously played for Reims before joining Monaco in 2020, Disasi showcased his talents at the 2022 World Cup, representing France in three matches. With his impressive track record, Chelsea looks forward to seeing him integrate into the team and contribute to their future successes.
